Description & Specifications

1965 Fender Vibro Champ Amp – Blackface

We present an original 1965 Fender Vibro Champ Amp – Blackface. Made in Fullerton, California.

This amp is an early example with a no-logo cabinet, delivering five watts of pure Blackface Class A tube tone. It’s a surprisingly loud amplifier, equipped with an 8″ alnico speaker. This Fender Vibro Champ offers just the right amount of glassy, sparkling clean tone before breaking up into smooth overdrive. Naturally, Fender’s lush-sounding tremolo circuit delivers a strong pulse with a wide range of speeds.

The circuit is highly original, featuring stock Schumacher transformers dated to the 13th and 14th weeks of 1965. The preamp remains virtually untouched, with only one new capacitor and resistor. The tube chart is exceptionally clean and fully intact, bearing an “OD” code corresponding to April 1965.

The speaker is a vintage Fender-branded Oxford 8″, complete with a clean blue Fender label on the alnico magnet and a frame showing minimal wear. Though the speaker dates a few years later than the amp, it has been professionally reconed to ensure optimal tone and performance for years to come. The amplifier is fitted with a new three-prong power cable.

A stepdown transformer is included (for 230V operation), preserving the amp’s originality as much as possible.
