1965 Gibson SG Standard – Cherry
We present an all original early 1965 Gibson SG Standard in its original Cherry finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This 1965 Gibson is a true vintage beauty in excellent condition. The Gibson SG Standard is an early ’65 model, featuring a 1-11/16″ nut width and nickel hardware. It has a great weight, with a killer, resonant tone and feel. Overall, it boasts a beautiful aesthetic with only minor play wear. The original Cherry finish remains a strong red, with subtle finish checking. It features a one-piece mahogany neck with nicely aged cream binding and black side dots. The dark rosewood fingerboard displays trapezoid inlays. The original frets show only minor wear and still have plenty of life left. Kluson Deluxe tuners are in perfect working condition.
The solid mahogany body is also crafted from a single piece. It includes a Gibson “Lyre” tremolo tailpiece and a nickel ABR-1 bridge with adjustable nylon saddles. The black pickguard is in great condition with no cracks and only slight warping. The Gibson “Patent Number” humbuckers are perfectly balanced and untouched. Dual volume and tone controls with black knobs, and a 3-way toggle switch, complete the classic SG setup.
It’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1965.
The original case is included — an original black chipboard Gibson case with intact latches and handle.
Pickups and electronics remain completely original and untouched, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
