1965 Martin 0-18 – Natural

We present an original 1965 C.F. Martin 0-18 in its original Natural finish. Made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

This is a well-preserved, largely original example, showing some typical nicks, dings, and cosmetic wear consistent with its age. There is a notable scrape through the top finish just in front of the pickguard, along with some surface scratches on both the top and back. The only visible pick wear is located on the lower edge of the soundhole. This vintage Martin features mahogany back and sides, a spruce top, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and tortoise-pattern celluloid outer binding.

Model-specific appointments for 1965 include the introduction of the short-saddle bridge, the final year of the tortoise-pattern celluloid pickguards (soon to be replaced by black acetate), and original open-back Grover Sta-Tite tuners. These 0-18s are renowned for their warm projection; this one offers great volume, with a bright yet well-balanced, resonant tone.

It’s been played over the years, and now —more than 50 years later — sounds better than ever. The rosewood bridge remains original and unaltered. This guitar has recently received a professional neck reset and refret, resulting in exceptional playability — likely better than when it was new. A fantastic-sounding and very playable vintage Martin, full of tonal character.
