1968 Gibson ES-335 TD – Tobacco Sunburst
We present an all original 1968 Gibson ES-335 TD in its original Tobacco Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This Gibson ES-335 is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks, or repairs. The stock “Patent Number” sticker humbuckers are powerful and articulate. The semi-hollow maple body allows for the quick attack characteristic of this tonewood, while also delivering an airy, warm quality.
Acoustically, the tone is authoritative and clear — qualities that translate beautifully through the original pickups. The neck has a profile unique to Gibsons from ’66–68, starting as a fairly slender C-shape at the nut and quickly gaining both depth and shoulder, approaching a fuller neck feel.
The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid block inlays. The original frets are in excellent shape, with plenty of life left. The headstock has minor nicks and dings and features the original Kluson Deluxe double-line/double-ring tuning machines. All turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The orange oval Gibson label is clean and legible, and the serial number matches the one stamped on the back of the headstock. The bridge is the original chrome Gibson Tune-o-Matic. The original chrome trapeze tailpiece is intact, along with the black hat knobs, stock pickguard, switch tip, and pickup covers.
It’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1968.
Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints and no rewound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original hardshell case, featuring a black exterior and plush yellow/orange interior. The latches and handle are also intact.
