1968 Gibson Hummingbird – Cherry Sunburst
We present an original 1968 Gibson Hummingbird in its original Cherry Sunburst finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This beauty delivers a big, round, and full-bodied tone, with deep, rumbling bass and exceptional resonance. It offers impressive projection and a warm, dynamic sound that only a vintage Gibson can provide. The mahogany neck is straight and plays effortlessly up and down the fretboard, with no buzzing or playability issues. The Honduran mahogany back and sides are in excellent condition, free of any structural repairs. There is a minor, superficial hairline crack on the back, but it’s purely cosmetic.
Overall, this flat-top acoustic is in excellent vintage condition, with only minor nicks, dings, and typical cosmetic wear consistent with its age. You’ll notice some beautiful finish checking and light wear that enhance its vintage character. The guitar features cream/antiqued binding on both the top and back, and a richly colored dark rosewood fingerboard with large parallelogram pearloid inlays.
A professionally installed handmade bone saddle has replaced the original adjustable ceramic saddle, paired with a new handcrafted bone nut — both upgrades completed by an experienced luthier for improved tone and sustain.
Comes with the original Gibson hardshell case with yellow interior; latches and handle are fully functional.
