Description & Specifications

1968 Gibson Melody Maker Bass – Pelham Blue

We present an all original 1968 Gibson Melody Maker Bass in its original Pelham Blue finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

This stunning Gibson solid-body bass guitar is in very good+ condition, with minor dings and light cosmetic wear. No breaks or repairs! The bass features the rare custom color Pelham Blue, which has aged into a slightly greenish hue over the years, accompanied by beautiful finish checking.

It features a lightweight mahogany body and neck, paired with a dark rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. The original frets still have plenty of life left. This short-scale Gibson bass has a powerful humbucker pickup that delivers a remarkably warm, strong, and punchy tone that stands out in any mix — truly a sound unlike any other bass. Comes with chrome hardware. Just an overall stunning vintage bass with exceptional playability.

It’s 100% original throughout – Just as it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1968.

The pickup and electronics/wiring remain untouched and fully intact, with no broken solder joints and no re-wound pickup. All original and correct.

Even comes complete with its original chipboard case, which is rough but functional. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
