Description & Specifications

1965 Gibson SG Special – Cherry

We present an all original 1965 Gibson SG Special in its original Cherry finish. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

This Special is an early ’65 model with late-’64 appointments such as nickel hardware and a 1-11/16″ nut width. Overall, it’s in beautiful condition with only extremely minor nicks, dings, and other light cosmetic play wear.

This Gibson features a bound rosewood fretboard, two “3 on a stripe” Kluson tuners, and a Vibrola tremolo. The 1-piece lightweight mahogany body is incredibly resonant—lively and clear even acoustically. The original Cherry finish remains strong and vibrant. The original Gibson P-90 pickups sound amazing and are exceptionally well balanced. They absolutely roar, delivering everything from glassy, articulate cleans to growling, heavy overdrive with ease. The 1-piece neck is a joy to play. It even comes complete with the original hang tag and sales receipt from 1965.

It’s 100% original throughout – Just like it left the Kalamazoo factory back in 1965.

The pickups and all electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact—no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. 100% original and correct.

Comes with its original alligator chipboard case. The original latches and handle are also intact and fully functional.
