1931 Gibson L-0 – Natural

We present an exceptional flat-top. An original 1931 Gibson L-0 in absolutely stunning clean condition. Made in Kalamazzo, Michigan.

This 12 fret Gibson flat top is from the great depression. In 1931, Gibson offered the L-0 as an X braced all mahogany guitar with it’s natural finish. It features small silver script “The Gibson” logo and the older thin natural lacquer finish and that were gone by 1932. The finish on this guitar is 100% original with no overspray or anything. Overall, this flat top is in super clean condition with extremely minor pick scratches on the top and nicks, dings and cosmetic case wear on the side. No breaks or any repairs on the top, side and back. Only a crack in one of the bracing inside, that just has been professional repaired.

These lightly built 12 fret models from the early steel string days make amazing fingerstyle and blues guitars with brilliant, musical tone. The neck profile is a comfortable rounded C- shape that we find far superior to the deep V-shape that replaced it when Gibson changed to the 14fret neck. Frets are still the original height and crown, the original tuners are still shiny with lovely buttons and even the black plastic bridge pins and end pin are all original.

Professionally set up with low action all the way up the neck. Factory height saddle with 12 fret action set.  The few scratches and rub marks from taking it out of the case are highlighted in the photos. You’ll find it nearly impossible to believe this Gibson is almost 90 years old.

Even comes complete with its original case, Nick Manoloff instructional book.

Repair by a professional Luthier.

  • Neck reset, so it has the perfect action and the best playability you can get.
  • Single crack repair in one of the braces.
