1960 Fender Harvard Amp Tweed 5F10 – Narrow Panel
We present an original 1960 Fender Harvard amplifier Tweed 5F10 – Narrow Panel. Made in Fullerton, California.
This rare 1960 Fender Harvard is a unique model, positioned just below the Deluxe in output, featuring two 6V6 power tubes, a substantially sized cabinet, and a single Jensen P10R Alnico 10″ speaker. The Fender Harvard holds the distinction of being the only Tweed era Fender model name that did not transition to the subsequent Brown and Blackface amp series. This amplifier delivers on the promise of sweet tube saturation, producing extremely dynamic, harmonically rich tones that are a hallmark of the Narrow Panel Tweed Fender amps.
Equipped with simple volume and tone controls, it’s easy to dial in everything from glassy cleans to tube overdrive with the twist of a knob. The cabinet size — noticeably larger than the Champ and Princeton — adds a certain low-end fullness to the tone, with great note bloom and a richness especially evident when played with a humbucker-equipped guitar.
The 5F10 circuit is extremely clean and factory stock. Only the death cap has been removed. It features the famed yellow Astron tone caps in the preamp, stock CTS pots, carbon composition resistors, and cloth wiring. The original transformers remain intact, with a Triad power transformer and Schumacher output transformer.
The faceplate is exceptionally clean, with shiny chrome and all original white silkscreened lettering intact. The original Jensen P10R speaker has just been reconed by the most skilled amp technician in Denmark (Lars Vad). It still has the minty teal frame and original foil label. The original lacquered tweed is intact and lightly ambered. A new 3-prong power cord has been installed, ensuring perfect operation.
A well-kept example, this amp shows only a few moderate scuffs and minor wear on the corners and along the edges of the tweed covering.
