Note: This 1958 Burst has been in a collection for over 30 years. Therefore it hasn’t been circulated around since then. This is also why we’ve chosen to cover the serial number of the guitar. In our experience dealing with bursts, is that some burst-owner wants to keep it for themself. We will let it be up to the next owner to go public or not with the serial number. ( The guitar is registered in the Burst Serial ) 

1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard – Sunburst “Burst”

We present an original 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard – Sunburst “Burst”. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

This is an incredible and exceptional all original 1958 Burst. Overall this guitar is in excellent and very clean condition with minor nicks, dings, finish checkings and other cosmetic wear – really an exceptionally stunning piece of guitar history. It features some beautiful finish checking all over the body and back of the neck, which all adds up to the breathtaking atmosphere of this guitar. There’s some play-wear spots on the back of the neck – a true testement to how loved this guitar was by the previous owner – but overall this in stunning condition.

The most eye-catching characteristic of this guitar is without a doubt the beautiful maple top. The amount of Birdseye in the maple is out of this world. The Cherry Sunburst finish is really clean and has barely faded, the red is still strong and warm. Every single screw and parts are original to the guitar and untouched. Nothing has ever been changed!

It features 1-piece mahogany body, 1-piece mahogany neck, dark rosewood fingerbord with trapezoid celluloid inlays. The original Kluson tuners turns and works perfectly and still features the original tuner buttons, which incredibly enough are all intact and works great and hasn’t shrunken yet like some can do over time. All the nickel hardware are incredible clean and shiny and looks like new. The original nut and small frets are in stunning condition with plenty of life left. The headstock is overall pretty clean with some finish checking, although the ‘Les Paul Model’ silkscreen is faded – you see that on many Bursts. It’s still visible when you look at the headstock from different angles.

This 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard features the two original P.A.F (Patent Applied For) humbuckers that sound incredible and powerful. They are very well balanced. Many years ago the pickups covers have been off which is not uncommon since many did that to get a different sound. The pickups themself are 100% undisturbed and the “Patent Applied For” decal under both pickups are clean as they can be. The control cavity and the toggle switch cavity are undisturbed and 100% factory stock.

Besides for re-done solder on the pickup covers, the pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and 100% correct.

Comes complete with its original Brown hardshell Case with pink interior. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
