1974 Guild D-35 – Natural
We present an original 1974 Guild D-35 in natural finish.
This flat-top is in collector-grade condition, but it definitely deserves to be played. It has a powerful tone and also the playability is just perfect.
Guild instruments are revered for their value, reliability, tone, responsiveness, outstanding projection, and sustain. The Guild D-35 dreadnought has a full-bodied, high volume body style that was developed with an emphasis on string-to-string balance, so that treble, mid and bass registers project evenly. The result is an incredibly musical and versatile dreadnought. The acoustic guitar’s top is solid spruce, offering full balance and projection, and the solid mahogany back and sides offer a distinctive warmth and smoothness.
The mahogany neck has a nice full feeling C-profile with tons of roundness. The rosewood fretboard is a particularly thick cut, with original frets that retain their full factory height and show just a touch of wear on the crowns of frets 1-7 beneath the B and high E strings. There’s virtually no wear further up the fretboard, and the guitar plays easily in every register. The original flawless heavy-duty chrome tuning machines are intact and turn smoothly, and the headstock face has a gold silkscreened Guild logo.
The body has a figured spruce top with multi-ply binding, multi-ply sound hole rosette, and tortoise pickguard. The rosewood bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, and while the saddle is fairly low, the action is comfortable and infinitely playable all the way up the neck. Cosmetically, this guitar is exceptionally clean, with light finish checking on the top and a handful of faint scattered nicks and finish scratches in the lacquer. This guitar is crack-free, and the neck profile is smooth and free of wear.
