1957 Fender Duo Sonic – Desert Sand
We present an all original 1957 Fender Duo Sonic in Desert Sand finish. Made in Fullerton, California.
This pre-CBS is a stunning example of an early Fender Duo Sonic from the second year of production 1957. Commonly known as Fender’s ‘student model’ guitar because of the 22.5″ (3/4) scale length. This little vintage guitar is a joy to play.
This piece of Fender-history is all original and is in overall excellent condition with few nicks, dings and other cosmetic wear from years of playing. It features the original Desert Sand finish, which was the standard finish for this period. The guitar itself remains structurally sound with no breaks or any repairs. It even comes complete with the rare original strap.
The maple neck has some beautiful checking all over it, and some spots of play-wear where the finish is worn down to the bare wood, which gives it a lot of mojo. the neck has never been taking off and we will not stress it off. The profile of the neck is a “V” shape and the maple-fretboard features the original 21 frets that still has a lot of life left in them.
The original gold anodized aluminum pickguard has some play-wear and a faded spot just beneath the strings, but looks good overall with no breaks or cracks. It features the six original single-line Kluson where all the tuner button are clean and intact. It even comes complete with the original ash-tray bridge-cover.
Pickups and the electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.
Comes with its original Fender hardshell case. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
