1966 Martin D-18 – Natural
We present an original C.F. Martin D-18 in Natural finish. Made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
This is maybe a more typical looking D-18, but this one has a lot of power and projection. This model has mahogany back, sides, and neck. It has a nicer top than you’d expect – possibly Red Spruce or Englemann. Tortoise bound back. Multiple tortoise bound top. Original pickguard. Beautiful rosewood peghead overlay with C.F. Martin & Co decal logo at top. Original rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
Graduated dot inlays in fingerboard.
There is newer frets and they have been milled. Frets show moderate player wear. Original small maple bridge plate intact and in good shape. Repaired pickguard crack below high E string. Bone nut and saddle.
Strap button professionally installed in heel. Tuners are original Grover “Patent Pending” Rotomatics.
This guitar has been well cared-for. Excellent neck reset performed some years ago. Frets and fingerboard have been maintained very well over the years. Pickguard has never been off. Bridge has been reglued and there is some repaired spruce splintering in front of bridge from the removal of bridge for reglue. There is one small ding at the butt of the guitar which caused two small parallel cracks. Light wear on treble side of fingerboard extension and inside soundhole rosette. Normal finish checking around guitar. Some random dings and scratches here and there. Overall, this is a nice guitar in great shape.
