Gibson Hummingbird

Back in 1960, Gibson started producing Hummingbirds. Due to its recognised quality and high versatility, the beautiful and celebrated Hummingbird has managed to stay relevant and remain in production right to this day.

The Hummingbird was Gibson’s first and only square shoulder dreadnought until the introduction of the Gibson Dove in 1962. Apart from Hummingbird Standards, you can also find Hummingbird Originals and Hummingbird Studios right here at Guitar Hunter.

What characterises the Hummingbird?

The Gibson Hummingbird is an all-round acoustic guitar with an astounding level of versatility. The guitar has a spacious mahogany body, a select Sitka spruce top, and a rounded, comfortable mahogany neck with a smooth 20 fret fingerboard in Indian Rosewood.

Regardless of how you attack its flat top, the Hummingbird produces deep and rich tones making it ideal for first position chords and lead picking. Whether you’re rhythm picking or soloing, the Hummingbird brings a top choice, rich, acoustic sound suited for most musical genres.

Gibson Hummingbird Vintage

The Hummingbird Standard is available in a Vintage Sunburst finish bringing that classic, old school vibe with an absolutely beautiful design. Apart from the Vintage Sunburst, Gibson also make the Standard Hummingbird with a black ebony finish.

Gibson Hummingbird Original

With the Hummingbird Original, what you get is the remarkable Hummingbird sound fused with a modern, high-quality construction. Whether you’re interested in the Antique Natural or the Heritage Cherry Sunburst, both originals come with special specs such as:

  • Gold Gotoh Keystone tuners
  • Double antiqued binding
  • Traditional Hummingbird truss rod cover
  • Bone nut and saddle

Gibson Hummingbird Studio

Common for Gibson’s different square shoulder designs, whether we’re talking Hummingbird, Dove, or Songwriter models, they all have quite spacious bodies. However, with the Studio model, Gibson introduced a slim bodied guitar hand-built in solid tonewoods.

Whether you fancy the Walnut Antique Natural or the Rosewood Antique Natural, the Hummingbird Studio brings the classic Hummingbird sound as well as an active under-saddle piezo pickup for effortless plug and play studio quality.
