We present an original 1964 Fender Champ Amp 5F1 – Narrow Panel – Black Tolex. Made in Fullerton, California.

This Vintage Fender Champ Amp is a rather rare example from Fender’s golden era that was only produced with Black Tolex between 1963 and 1964. Fender initiated this Black Tolex design for their 5F1 Narrow Panel Champ Amp to make the fit better aesthetically in the program with the newly introduced Blackface Fender Amps before replacing it with the Blackface AA764 Champ and Vibro-Champ in the fall of 1964.

Overall this amp is in excellent and original condition with minimal wear on the black tolex. The grille cloth is in stunning condition as well  fully intact with no holes. The faceplate shows some sign of wear as most of the stencilled lettering has worn off. The serial number on the faceplate is still clear and visible showing C21744. One screw is missing on the right side of the back panel.

As with any 5F1 Champ, it features just a “chicken head” volume knob and a single-ended 6V6-driven power section, yielding about 5 watts of output power into a single 8″ speaker. The CTS 8″ speaker is the original and in perfect working order

Since this Black Tolex champ still features the 5F1 circuit, it therefore also features the 3 original tubes: 5Y3GT-6V6GT-12AX7.  The original 2-prong cord was replaced with a newer one, stil 2-prong.

The original tube chart is present as well and very clean with crisp corners. It has a tube-chart ink-stamp “ND” indicating it was assembled in April of 1964.
