We present an exceptional 1960 Gibson Les Paul standard “BURST” Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The story of Rosie.

This historical piece comes from the original owner in McNabb, IL back in August 2021.

This original Gibson Les Paul standard 1960 & Gibson amplifier was given brand new to Rosie as a gift from her parents. Rosie played it in her three piece band; The Rhythmettes for four or five years before getting married and having kids. Marriage and kids became a bit more important than guitars. The band broke up and she lost interest in playing guitar, so this burst has truly been stored in its case since then.

One of her kids had a daughter who recently had been learning to play guitar. She didn’t have an electric guitar so she asked grandma about hers. Rosie was pleased that her granddaughter wanted to play so she happily let her borrow it after digging it out of the closet. She looked at similar guitars online and quickly realized that this was not like those reissues, this is the real deal. Rosie was not fully aware of just how valuable a Gibson Les Paul standard burst 1960 was.

In August 2021 Rosie sold the Gibson Les Paul Standard – Sunburst & Gibson amplifier to a collector. Rosie contacted John Shults (founder and owner of True Vintage Guitar) back in August 2021 to sell it. John from True Vintage Guitar connected Rosie with a buyer for this guitar & amplifier at a price that really blew her away.

John from True Vintage Guitar is a good friend of ours. When we heard about that guitar with all the documentation back in August, we were very interested to get that historical piece. We contacted John to see if he could get us in contact to the collector, if he was intersted to sell this guitar with the amp. Thankfully John Shults was the man to make it happen. Here in February 2022 we finally got this beautiful Gibson Les Paul Standard “Burst” with the matching Gibson amplifier. We are very thrilled and we give John Shults a big thanks and especially the collector, to let us buy it.

The condition of this original 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard “Burst”

This Gibson Les Paul standard is today nicknamed; Rosie. Overall, this is an amazingly clean original Gibson Les Paul burst. It has remained with its original owner since it was new in 1960 and up to August 2021. Further more, it’s especially rare because it has all the paperwork, tags, documentation that can track the hole history of the guitar. A bullet proof burst and as originality, this guitar is all original throughout!

This Gibson Les Paul standard has a beautiful flamed book matched top that comes in Cherry Sunburst finish. The color is still strong with minor fading and the back of the whole guitar is still very strong Red with almost no fading. It features 1-piece mahogany body, 1-piece mahogany neck, dark rosewood fingerbord with trapezoid celluloid inlays. The original finish is in fantastic shape with minor finish checking. The original Kluson tuners turns and works perfectly but the tuner buttons (like most of them do) has crumbled a little. The original P.A.F humbuckers are incredible and sound fantastic. One Double Whites P.A.F in the neck and one All Black P.A.F in the bridge. The pickups covers has never been disturbed and the “Patent Applied For” decal under both pickups are clean as they can be. The control cavity and the toggle switch cavity are undisturbed and factory stock. The original nut and frets are like new and have plenty of life left.

Pickups and electronics/wiring remain untouched and intact, with no broken solder joints, no re-wound pickups. All original and correct.

Comes complete with its original Brown Hardshell Case with Pink interior. Latches and handle are in perfect working order.
